The Art of Menstruation at the Museum of Menstruation and Women's Health

This picture was mentioned in a 2004 German newspaper article.

Close-up

Anne Encephalon, the artist, writes,

Dearest MUM,

I was looking at some of the menstrual art at your Web site and decided to send you some pictures of a piece I did that relates to menstruation.

I painted a self-portrait in red acrylic paint on the crotch of some lovely feminine undies. The undies were exhibited this year (along with the mesh laundry bag seen in the first picture) in an exhibition called "Phat/Flat" which was originally a mail-in painting exhibition. I mailed the undies wrapped up in the mesh laundry bag inside a plastic wrapping.
