MUSEUM OF MENSTRUATION AND WOMEN'S HEALTH

Playtex super extra absorbent self-adjusting menstrual tampons
(1974, International Playtex Corp., U.S.A.)

Introduction.

I thank the former Tambrands, maker of Tampax, for donating the box!
Below: Open the box and you see this.
Below: The paper-wrapped tampon right out of the box
Below: I enlarged it to make the lower text visible.
Below: The whole tampon. Look at the plug (absorbing part) and
string in the plastic applicator.
It stretches 4 3/4" (12.1 cm).
Below: The 'pon disassembled.
At left, the plug measures 2 1/8 x 5/8" (5.5 x 1.5 cm), its string 5 1/2" (13.5 cm) long.
Middle: the plunger is 2 3/4 x 3/8" (7 x 1 cm).
Right: the second tube measures 2 3/4 x 9/16" (at widest part) (7 x 1.6 cm).

Below: I'd hate to be the guy who has to thread the string! Just like the person
who has to stick those *!#*%@# labels on apples!
