These early Kotex and Modess ads
often show well-off
women, maybe to dignify an
unspeakable part of their lives. The
style, both of the painting and of
the painted, covers up the
wretchedness of their lives. Arise,
Um, wait a second, it's not Labor
But the ad keeps a tradition of
hiring fine artists to illustrate
menstrual products, even for girls.
