Procter & Gamble kindly donated the unopened box.

The 'pon comes wrapped in white paper, the top end sealed, the bottom easily unwrapped. I opened the wrong one.
The wrapper as shown is 5 3/8" long (13.5 cm).
The tassel indicates a good-time tampon, festive, jaunty, cheeky, willing to take risks, including "the plunge" if you will, or even if you won't.

Below: The disassembled tampon. The small cardboard tube is slightly larger than the other one and measures 3 15/16" (7.5 cm) long and 5/16" (0.9 cm) in diameter. The diameter of the larger tube is 5/8" (1.6 cm).
The cotton plug measures 2 5/16 x 11/16" [smaller end] (5.9 x 1.7 cm), the string 4 1/4" (10.5 cm).
Below: The arrow shows where the string enters the tampon.

Below: The arrow points to the faint edge of the coiled cotton layer.

Below: The small tube enters the larger one through this narrowed opening,
which steadies it. Unlike the Tampax tampon, the tubes do not
fit snugly into each other.

Below: The other end, the cotton plug end, of the large tube.
