Some early history of the Scandinavian
tampon
and menstrual pad company SCA
Mølnlycke

Above: the first A/S Saba
(the company's predecessor)
factory, built right after World
War II, in 1945/46. The company,
which makes pads and tampons for
Norway, started with five
employees near Tønsberg,
a town about 30 miles south of
Oslo.
Why talk
about this company? Because it
sponsored an exhibit
celebrating its 50th anniversary and
menstruation in the town museum
of Vestfold. This is unusual,
folks! (Here's the company's Web
site -
in Norwegian, of course.)
I thank
Marethe Slensvik of the SCA
Mølnlycke company in
Norway for this picture and
information from the
company history A.S. SABA
1945-1985: 40 år i vekst
og trivsel, which she lent
me, and for much material and
information about the company's
menstruation
exhibit
in Norway! Translations are
mine.
