sounds like "TOSSaway,"
doesn't it? That's probably because
it was meant to.
Women used the company's first cup,
reused and re-reused
and re-re-used used it and didn't
of them to keep the company in business. So
if they tossed them
they had to buy another. At least that's my
take on it.
The company eventually tossed itself
away with stock price
And stock was a subject of this annual
report. How neat, huh?
Since Tassaway wrestled with Tampax for
women's blood, Tambrands
got this photocopy of the annual report fast. I wonder who
the spy at
the meeting was.

made and sold Tampax,

as part of a huge donation
of its products and documents.

It seems odd
that the report cover calls Tassaway
"the first proven advance
in menstrual protection in over 30
years - that would be before 1940 -
because the company's first
menstrual cup, Tassette,
and failed after that date. But that
cup was probably identical to Leona
patented in 1937 (at right),
and Chalmers was associated with
Tassette cup. Complicated.

former Tassette company president
Robert Oreck for more information.
He referred me to
Mrs. Waldron, whom I never located.
Dr. Peña wrote articles
supporting the cup.
