Tampax menstrual tamponads, 1982, United Kingdom,
showing humor

About 1997, when the museum was open in my house (pictures here), an official from Tambrands, then the maker of Tampax, visited with her son and other Tambrands employees. We talked about the company's advertising, which was serious rather than than silly (this one, for example). I mentioned that British tampons had a light approach (see here for some verboten approaches in America!); she said the Americans might follow suit. The official also saw her first washable pad in the MUM museum, although she had heard of them.

Below are two earlier amusing ads from the United Kingdom.

I thank again a generous Dutchman for these scans!

Poor cat! Sacrificed to tampon advertising! Wait, he's stuffed! I know a live cat when I see one. From "Woman," 30 January 1982.

Sorry about the chopped edges, but the main point is the photo.
From IT magazine, June 1982.
