St Michael super menstrual tampons, 1972 (Marks & Spencer, U.K.)

Tampax super, 1972

INSTRUCTIONS &
TAMPAX BOX

Introduction.

Tampon directory.

I thank the former Tambrands, once maker of Tampax tampons, for donating both boxes!
Below: The front of the 4-page St Michael instructions (a sheet folded once).
In the box they were folded yet again, vertically. Each page measures 4 3/8 x 6 3/4"
(11.3 x 17.1 cm).
Below: The pencil notation on the upper right corner. It might be the initials of someone at Tambrands who looked at it.

Below: The two interior pages look like this. Below that see their enlargements.
The similarities between the Tampax and St Michael start with two illustrations and typefaces
of the instructions
, below. They intensify with the tampon itself.
Below: Scroll down and compare two illustrations from this folder with two from the instructions for the 1972 Tampax.
The St Michael's typeface is a compressed version of Tampax's.
Right ABOVE: Among other things, compare the curve of the strings as they wend their ways through the tubes.
Right BELOW: Look at the intersections of the arms, upper leg and upper body.
To be fair, the general layout and text of the two instruction sheets are completely different
as are the other illustrations.

The back page of the instructions is blank except for a continuation of the
flower design
on the lower third of the page.
