Small Wonder:
How Tambrands began, prospered, and grew
Soft-cover book, 48 pages, 1986, U.S.A.
Company/corporate history of Tambrands, maker of Tampax menstrual tampons,
sanitary napkins, Draghi cancer detection tampons, Valex baby panties, Maxithins
external pads, First Response home diagnostic kit, etc.
Tambrands, the maker of Tampax from 1936 to 1997 (but not the first
maker), probably commissioned this beautiful book to give to business partners,
company employees, and interested parties in 1986 (and beyond), the company's
50th anniversary.
The author is listed at the bottom of p. 3 but no copyright, trademark
or publisher information graces the pages. You'll not find an index, sources
for information or bibliography. It reads as if the writer did interview
Tampax luminaries and comb the company archives.
With that in mind read the well-written and hardly boring history of
one of the makers of what Consumer Reports called one of the "50 small wonders and big deals that revolutionized
the lives of consumers" - the tampon.
See a Tiffany bowl also celebrating the 50th
anniversary of Tampax Inc. and Tambrands.
I thank the former Tambrands for donating the book!

Below: The thick paper cover measures 9
1/2 x 11" (24 x 27.7 cm).
The art deco style cover seems to reflect
the design atmosphere of 1936,
the year Tampax Incorporated started.
